Fr Faulkner -- YOUNG PRIESTS RULE!

Got the following tip in the ol' e-mail interwebz thingy:
There are some good mp3s from the assistant pastor at our parish at http://www.4shared.com/u/qqkggkz/7e071de5/Fr_Faulkner.html

He has a series there for mothers, a series on marriage (from his marriage preparation series to which all married parishioners were invited) and some of his homilies.

Thanks again for putting together this website.

Cindy

So, naturally, I gave the first talk a listen. In short -- awesome. I was listening to the Marriage and Sexuality Series, and if you don't know the Theology of the Body at all then this is the talk for you. If you DO know the TOB, this is a good refresher and there are a few analogies I'll bet you haven't heard. Lots of borrowing from Christopher West and Janet Smith, who get it all from JPII (who gets it from Tradition), but some good original stuff, too.

Do yourself a favor and check it out -- oh, and don't forget the Power Point!

Free Janet Smith Talk

As a reminder, you can get a copy of Janet Smith's talk CONTRACEPTION: WHY NOT on CD for free from the folks at One More Soul. Makes a good item to inconspicuously slip into that book on your friend's desk.

...just sayin'.

UPDATE:
It appears the talk is no longer available there. Listen to
it free online HERE.

Mother Teresa's 1994 Prayer Breakfast Speach

From revertconvert comes this gem:

As one holy woman said in 1994...

"Whatsoever You Do..."

Speech of Mother Teresa of Calcutta to the National Prayer Breakfast,
Washington, DC,
February 3, 1994

Listen online to the audio of this talk or download it free in MP3 format.

On the last day, Jesus will say to those on His right hand,

"Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them,

"Whatever you neglected to do unto one of the least of these, you neglected to do unto me!"

As we have gathered here to pray together, I think it will be beautiful if we begin with a prayer that expressed very well what Jesus wants us to do for the least. St. Francis of Assisi understood very well these words of Jesus and His life is very well expressed by a prayer. And this prayer, which we say every day after Holy Communion, always surprises me very much...

40 Years of Humanae Vitae Goodness

American Papist has posted a 40 year celebratory post for Humanae Vitae, and has included a debate between Dr. Janet Smith and Dr. Charles Curran about contraception. Dr. Smith dominates the debate, having utterly dismantled every lame argument Curran proposes in her opening statement.

Since Dr. Smith is the speaker who really opened my eyes to the Catholic take on things, I was really looking forward to the debate - and I wasn't disappointed. Even if you're not a big debate fan, you should give these a listen:
If you're just plain set on not liking debates, here are links to her talk "Contraception: Why Not" - absolutely a must listen, regardless of your position on the matter.

Humanae Vitae Priests - New Website

That bastion of orthodoxy, Fr. Euteneuer, has been busy. There's now a new site out there called Humanae Vitae Priests.org which looks fairly promising. Here are a couple of videos showing some of the stuff they've been up to. If you get a chance, do browse their site.

Planned Barrenhood

The American Life League is on the forefront of the battle to end abortion. To that end, they're creating media which is accessible to the popular culture. While some of the shtick is a bit corny, that same corny-ness is exactly what makes the videos "non-threatening" and therefore (in my opinion) more effective. Here's the latest video:

Their website, www.all.org, is loaded with good information -- including an interactive map which lets you see where the abortuaries are in your area as well as when the various protests are planned. The same map also lets you upload dates if your organization is planning a protest, which makes a nicely consolidated repository of information.

Do check out the site.
